At Hearing by Design, our commitment is rooted in the core values of care, compassion, and clinical excellence. Founded by Kinau, a dedicated audiologist with a deep commitment to personal service, our clinic promises an experience that is as unique as each client we serve.
Kinau chose to establish her own practice rather than stay in a larger group to ensure that each client receives consistent, personal care from a familiar face.
Qualifications and Awards
As well as being highly qualified, Kinau was awarded “Clinician of the Year” and numerous internal Value Awards at her previous place of employment.
Kinau first qualified as a Speech-Language Therapist and Audiologist in South Africa (B.CommPath)
After immigrating to New Zealand, she furthered her studies by completing a two-year Master of Audiology degree from the University of Canterbury (M.Aud)
Kinau holds a certificate in Business Management from the New Zealand Institute of Management and a certificate in Understanding Dementia from the University of Tasmania
Kinau is a full member of the New Zealand Audiological Society (NZAS) and holds a current annual Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A)

Family Life
Kinau is an immensely proud mother of two Kiwi-born children: Liam (19) and Lauren (15). They keep her grounded, humble, and very busy! Her daughter, an aspiring Equestrian Vet, loves horses, and her son who loves horsepower more than horses, is currently living his best life at full throttle in the New Zealand Air Force. Between the horsehair and dirt bike mud, they have carved out a relaxed lifestyle, spending most of their spare time with family, close friends… and Duke the Huntaway and George the Shih Tzu / Maltese cross. [They are fully cognisant of the fact that they are all owned by a cat named Oliver, who appears from (dinner) time to (dinner) time.]
