Background
Kinau first arrived in Tauranga as a Rotary Youth Exchange student in 1997 and immediately fell in love with New Zealand, its people, the lifestyle, Hokey Pokey ice-cream, Jaffas and jandals! She immigrated from South Africa in 2006 and has lived and worked in Hamilton, Christchurch, and Auckland.
Qualifications and Awards
As well as being highly qualified, Kinau was awarded “Clinician of the Year” and numerous internal Value Awards at her previous place of employment.
Kinau first qualified as a Speech-Language Therapist and Audiologist in South Africa (B.CommPath)
After immigrating to New Zealand, she furthered her studies by completing a two-year Master of Audiology degree from the University of Canterbury (M.Aud)
Kinau holds a certificate in Business Management from the New Zealand Institute of Management and a certificate in Understanding Dementia from the University of Tasmania
Kinau is a full member of the New Zealand Audiological Society (NZAS) and holds a current annual Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A)

Kinau has worked in New Zealand since 2006 and in the Eastern suburbs of Auckland (Dannemora, Howick, Botany) for over a decade. She has formed strong relationships with General Practitioners and Ear Nose and Throat Specialist in the area.
Family Life
Kinau is an immensely proud mother of two Kiwi-born children: Liam (17) and Lauren (13). They keep her grounded, humble, and very busy! Her daughter loves horses, and her son loves horsepower. Between the horsehair and dirt bike mud, they have carved out a relaxed lifestyle, spending most of their spare time with family, close friends… and George the Shih Tzu / Maltese cross. [They are fully cognisant of the fact that they are all owned by a cat named Oliver, who appears from (dinner) time to (dinner) time.]

With Hearing By Design, you will always see the Audiologist you are familiar with.
A copy of your test result can usually be given to you in person or e-mailed to you, straight after your appointment.
